I see these little lists all over the inter webs, and I think they are fantastic. So here’s mine!
I have some pretty interesting hair. It’s long, it’s very layered, it’s thick, and it’s fine. My hair is a perfect storm for tangles – I spend half my waking hours working out knots from this sexy mop! (This is after Kevin and I went to the AC/DC concert in the rain and I slept on wet hair!)
Literally. Between our well water, the Canadian weather, and daily wear and tear, it’s hard to keep my hair looking like this:
It takes many small miracles, and here they are! My favourite five hair products – in no particular order!
The Wet Brush!
I don’t know if you’re like me, but I my hair comes out of the shower in a massive tangle. Doesn’t matter how much conditioner I use. I used to struggle with a boar hair brush but it couldn’t penetrate the tangles deep enough to remove them. I switched to this brush on the recommendation of my hair stylist and I haven’t looked back.
I use it in my hair and Aedyn’s long hair and it just works. Something like magic, really. Ha. Try it. You’ll know what I mean. And if you don’t believe me, maybe the over 2,200 4.5 star reviews on Amazon will sway you!
It’s A 10!
This one is a new obsession of mine, but it’s one I use every time I wash my hair! I was first introduced to this leave in treatment at my salon. My stylist sprayed my hair and just combed out the tangles like nothing – using a standard brush! When it dried, my hair had extra shine and was super soft. She explained to me that because of the water we have at home, my hair has collected mineral deposits on it, which is what makes it so darn tangly and miserable – this helps to make it slippery and easier to comb through, while repairing the ends!
The other neat thing about this leave in treatment is you barely have to use any – I spray it maybe 5 times to cover my whole head, focussing on the ends – so it lasts forever. I use this on my own hair, and Aedyn’s hair as well. It works great for both of us!
Again, if you don’t believe me, check out the nearly 3,000 4.5 star reviews on Amazon! It’s literally the number 1 best seller in hair and scalp treatments!
MoroccanOil Restorative Hair Mask
This is kind of a splurge – but it lasts forever. I’ve had mine over a year now and even with monthly treatments there’s tons left. Not only does this stuff smell like the MoroccanOil smell we’ve all grown to love, it works fantastically at rehydrating and smoothing out the wild ends on my hair.
My favourite thing to do with this hair mask is to have a shower, allow my hair to dry until just damp, apply this to the ends of my hair before wrapping my hair into a bun and hitting the sheets. When I wake, I have a quick shower to rinse out and get on my merry way. It’s fantastic!
I think good solid hair ties are important to healthy hair. I use a couple different kinds, depending on the what I’m looking for. I use these awesome “Burly Bands” style ties for particularly tight and high ponies, especially if I’m rocking the sock bun. I have never found a better hair tie in my life – I’ll call these game changers, and you’ll know what I mean when you try them!
I use these pretty, delicate ribbon style bands for general every day use. They look cute on my wrist and they can easily wrap my hair into a messy bun or pony at a moment’s notice. They fasten braids really well in both my hair and Aedyn’s hair. I started using these when I noticed traditional hair ties would damage and even break off Aedyn’s little hair when she was younger.
It sounds crazy to include supplements in this list, but my hair is always at it’s absolute healthiest when I remember to take my supplements. I only take 2, so it’s not that hard to remember!
Silica is vital in maintaining the health of skin, bones, ligaments, tendons, hair and nails. It is also has a big influence on the absorption of minerals! So you’re getting a double whammy! The reason I choose bamboo silica is that it’s the richest known source of natural silica – and a renewable resource.
Biotin is necessary for cell growth, production, and the metabolism of fats into amino acids. This B Vitamin helps to support healthy and luxurious hair, skin, and nails!
