If you haven’t been following us for long, you might not know this, but Kate and I are hooked on making our own stuff. Anything and everything we can make from scratch is fair game.
Flours are no different, especially gluten free flours, as they are so darn expensive. We would often make our own almond flour, but now that Kate is allergic, we’ve moved more towards the gluten free grains. Like Quinoa, Buckwheat, and now Oats!
Please, do be aware that oats naturally gluten free, however, they are often contaminated during processing, as they are often processed in plants that also process gluten containing grains. It is possible to find gluten free oats, it just takes a little digging. Some people do react to oats in the same way that the react to other grains containing gluten – so do be aware.
- 2 cups rolled oats
- Add oats to high speed blender and process until a fine flour forms. You may need to stop the blender and scrape down the sides once or twice.
- Store in the pantry in an air tight jar.
